Scholarship Requirements
The fund will award two scholarships per year to graduating seniors who exemplify the characteristics reminiscent of Mike McGreevy. These characteristics are:
- Academic excellence: The student must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Athletic achievement: The student must have earned a Varsity letter or its equivalent in one or more sports.
- Sense of civic duty: The student must be pursuing a career involving some type of service to others. This may include: military service, law enforcement, medicine, education, counseling, social work.
- The student must also demonstrate the following personality traits:
- Integrity
- Humility
- Genuine kindness
- Determination
- Perseverance
Students will be asked to submit:
- An academic transcript
- Proof of athletic involvement/achievement
- A one page essay describing their career ambitions and why they wish to pursue that chosen path.
- Two letters of recommendation from a teacher, coach, or other significant adult are required.
One scholarship will be awarded to a student in Norfolk or Virginia Beach and the other will be awarded to a student from Mike’s home town of Portville, NY
